I also forgot to say ...My son is only 14 ...but has grown amazingly in this last year ...his feet are a size 13-14 ...does anyone know if this proves to be a problem with boot hire ...we have it booked with Balkan...soon he wont need skis...

Check e-bay, have just bought top line Salomon with one weeks use for £95.00.
Just get him to try a few pairs in your local ski shop for sizing and then keep your eyes open for that model and size and get a bargain...
Appreciate that manufacturers produce their boots slightly differant, if you were to try a Salomon in say size 30.5 mondo it will be the same fit through their range.

If your son was happy with the fit of a certain manufacturer then you could fairly safely buy any boot in that manufacturers range...
I worked and subsequently owned a ski shop (a few years ago) but i am sure what i am saying still applies...
Just one problem Steve ...hes still growing ...changes shoe size every year or there about ..he is still only 14 ...i would invest in a pair of boots if i knew they were gonna last him..i hope he will stop growing soon ...he is 6ft 2 and 46 chest hes well past me by ...thats why im hesitant about being able to get ski hire boots for him

and if available reserve them. You will need to quote the mondo size.
I am reasonably certain that they will have suitable boots but i can understand your concern. Don`t dismiss the e-bay option, i have seen boots as cheap as £10.00 which would have been suitable for beginner/intermediate..
