hello everybody
went skiing jan 04 for the first time in boro,and had such a great time with my 11yrs old son that we are going back jan 15th 05 we cant wait.
my question is what is the best size boot to wear if im a size 8, i suffered in pain last holiday wearing a size 8 boot,which i thought was normal because most people were complaining about thier hired boots and skies.so for me to enjoy my holiday even more this time,can i have some good advise from all you wise skiers out there please.
My second question is if i want to buy a pair of boots,because i have the bug now and will no dout be booking for 06 as soon has i get back, about how much extra cash should i take to buy a nice comfy pair of boots in borovets.

It may be worth finding out if you can hire some boots here and take them with. I know that Edge 2 Edge offer this service and they have a website which would give you details of where they are located, but it's primarily in the south east.

You will get the choice of different boots and as long as you have a couple of hours to spare, you can spend as much time as you want trying on boots to make sure you get what you want.

I had problems with hire boots cutting into my shins and ended up buying mine on my second ski season - it can be that you put your foot into a boot and realise that is the one for you - otherwise, it can ruin the holiday

As Judith said, it is best to wear the boots for at least half hour before deciding if they are for you, meaning you get the best kind of fit. You can do this easily in this country, any decent ski shop would encourage you to do this. I dont know if you would be able to try them on for such length in Bulgaria, it would be awful to spend money on boots that are going to be uncomfortable after an hour or so wearing them. I would advise to buy or hire from home because of this. The ski shops still have some sales on now of last years stuff, so you may be able to pick up a pair of your own for a decent price, I did with my snowboard boots....half price at £70!!

Tend to agree with most people - you really need some time to ensure the boots fit well. Also, regarding buying boots, that is down to your budget...

I bought some Salamon boots a few weeks ago that were reduced from £200 last season to £125 now - a bit more than I had planned to pay to be honest, but they were able to heat treat the lining to ensure a fantastic fit. Also, I bought them half a size bigger than my usual size as I find that boots that are super tight do nothing but cause pain........
