borovets: lift pass and ski hire

what can people recommend with respect to buying lift pass and ski hire in borovets? should we book a package ahead (if, then where) or buy upon arrival (what are the best deals). We are going from 7 March to 14 March.

Were going the same time. I was advised to book ahead but was also told prices are similar. I didnt want to risk it though and paying alot more then what i could of.

Who have you purchased the holiday through?

re: borovets: lift pass and ski hire

thanks, very helpful
those prices sounds fairly okay to me - especially the package deal
where did you enquire about this - i.e. where can you get this deal?

Lots and lots of people are doing special offers in the resort at the moment...

Please bear in mind though that some of the 'amazing deals' relate to 15 to 20 people in a class and VERY poor equipment. So, basically it's totally down to you - if you want the cheapest price, then you need to accept that it will probably not be the best and ski school might be packed. If you want better equipment / smaller classes, then you really need to go to one of the smaller schools.

Based on current snow, you may want to wait until you get here....!!

re: borovets: lift pass and ski hire

thanks kas et. al,
will probably wait since I can be a little picky when it comes to equipment for myself. Kas, do you know if there are any ski schools/instructors that master any of the scandinavian languages in borovets? I will follow your excellent "weather reports" and hope for more snow
cheers

re: borovets: lift pass and ski hire

Will ask the question and let you know - which language specifically are you looking for?

re: borovets: lift pass and ski hire

danish preferably, however, swedish and/or norwegian will do as well I guess
where (which pistes/slopes) do the kids ski school usually start?

re: borovets: lift pass and ski hire

Children will normally start on the Rila nursery slopes. Sometimes they go up to the nursery at the top of the gondola, but that is only if the snow is really really poor at the bottom.

Just rang Bobby and asked if he knew any Scandinavian speakers but he was too busy to answer. I will post back when he gets back to me, but in the interim, someone else might know the answer!
