borovets - abridged

just back from a week in borovets.

fantastic trip, enjoyed it all apart from the travelling - 15hr trip back (someone left their lights on in the airport car park)

found cheap board hire, and excellent tuition; you just need to look hard for it!

oh, and the food.....ate here and there in town, nothing topped the Mexaha (next to the cashpoint opposite the gondolas) first went to eat only to find we needed to book, went back the next night and were treated to genuine Bulgarian ...

oh, and the food.....ate here and there in town, nothing topped the Mexaha (next to the cashpoint opposite the gondolas) first went to eat only to find we needed to book, went back the next night and were treated to genuine Bulgarian hospitality, dancing (us) and music. finished the week with a whole roast pig - still haven't needed to eat yet!! speak to Valentino their grabber/rotisserie chef

bars are plentiful and cheap; the buzz bar (as everyone will vouch) is packed with a very british vibe. personally my preference was for the smaller local bars. i can dance to the grease megamix in any club at home!

recommendations? white magic (chris and his stella), sunski (next door, home to the lovely Kora) and the salamander (Dino's hospitality was legendary)

avoid? pete's bar (empty at 11pm?? - but no queue for the karaoke), pushy grabbers...it's not benidorm people.

shopping. cheap, cheerful and hookie. to quote"it's not f***ing istanbul man!!"

great week, another country to cross off the list

Thanks for the useful report, am going in 11 days.

Can you let us know where you found the cheap hire gear? And was it good quality?
