re: borovets lift pass and board hire

yes you can get deals else where and we do, but you still pay nearly £5 for a beer and a fortune for lunch, thats another reason why people like bulgeria, some of the hotels half board are as much as france ect but a learn to ski pack is about £100 where as france is about £270 you do the maths 2 adult and 2 kids bulgaria is better value for money, if you have your own skis ect and only need a lift pass then other european resorts are within the same budget.

Roger I agree 100%.Last 3-4 years My family goes to France for better skiing area door skiing and actually paying less for the lift passes,Food is the same price as in BG more or less. The only reason to go to Bulgaria skiing is if YOU HAVE A PROPERTY THERE(THAT IS FOR SAM) ,HAVE LOVE ONE THERE,OR JUST BLINDLY IN LOVE WITH THE PLACE .try and you will see it for yourself that you can spend exactly the same if not less for super skiing in the alps

re: borovets lift pass and board hire

50 pounds is just too much for 3-4 lifts working at any time and a few runs to use.But the problem is that local lift companies for Boro and Bansko want the max.If you are prepared to pay those prices is fine. But they are rip off

Pete, you are very much like my wife. You listen to what I have to say but hear something else. Cool

I havent a problem with inflation or price increases for improvements. But if you think this is happening in Borovets, you are clearly mistaken. The only real improvements have been the size of the managers mercedes. Wink

It is a shame that the local people who work there havent seen their wages increase at the same rate. But we will ignore that fact because that doesnt affect you lot. ...

Sam, have a meal at the top of the gondola. Not only will it be rubbish but you will pay as much as France. And you will have to put up with a miserable Bulgarian serving you, who now thinks that the EU owes him a living.

While Borosp**t are in control, the greedy pigs will continue to drain as much money out of the place as possible.
The pinch will soon come, when they outprice the tourist who comes only for the cheap beer and not the woodchip 'grockle' shops, horse cack and miserable workers. Oh and the lifts that close weekly for maintenance, even in the first week of the season.

I used to love Borovets, but now I will only go for half a days skiing and that is it. On a good day, with good snow, there is some half decent skiing to be had, but not 50 levs worth.

If you book a package, then you will be able to escape the lift pass fiasco. But that is due to the holiday companies knowing exactly what it should cost and having the power to enforce it. It is funny how they wont be dictated to. Wink

Anyway, enjoy your skiing at Borovets and look forward to all those improvements that are in for this year.

Hi Roger,
I feel you are barking up the wrong tree here on this forum as the majority of us are in it for the love of skiing.
If you feel so strongly about your points maybe you would be better sending an email of your complaints to Borosport.
Here is there website with a contact us link;

I dont have a property in bulgeria and to be honest I would not buy one there, I have my reasons, plus I do ski in other areas, as for the food being the same price as france and the french being nicer happier people sorry but you live in a bigger dream world than the rest of us or should I say more stupid.

Roger,

I am intreagued by your revelations. Please tell me where in France I can ski all day for £15, get a beer for a quid, a meal for £3 and have a great night out on £20.

I skied Teigns a few years back and the skiing was awesome ---- full stop.

Nothing else came even close to matching Bulgaria - but we all have our preferences, and you will NEVER convince me or thousands others that France is better value, more friendly, or has better nightlife, than Bulgaria.

But it's not ...

But it's not all about comparisons - it's about what you actually enjoy most about your holiday. I would still ski Bulgaria if it were twice the price and I have skied many many countries including America.

Money talks -- in France it always says Goodbye.

re: borovets lift pass and board hire

Roger, please tell me where else I can get a skiing holiday for 4, including HB, private lessons, hire of gear and passes in the school holidays all for £1,800?
Add to that a meal for 4 on the mountain for about £15 and a beer in the evening for £1 then I will book it!
I am aware there is better skiing elsewhere and that you do get what you pay for, but the French more friendly than the Bulgarians.
