i had lessons in borovets years ago and remember it a little. i no we used to have lunch with the instructor and go out for drinks with him and that. if going for 6 days, do you spend every day is the lessons, and are the lessons all day?
Lessons normally start at around 10am, but you usually come to soe arrangement with your group & instructor as to exact time and meeting place. With Borosport, you do tend to be expected to stcik with your instructor for lunch, but my intermediate group last season had friends in a beginner group, so would quite often go off and join them and meet back up at a certain time for afternoon lessons. Hi Steve
Lots of comments last season, I seem to remember, on instructors taking you to expensive places for lunch, as they're taking a cut, but not sure how true it is. Our instructor in Feb was great, he let us pick our own place, and we did kind of come and go as we pleased in terms of whether we did eat together or not.
Lessons will start on your first full day there, ie if you arrive late Saturday, you're up at the crack of dawn on Sunday to get your lift pass and hire gear, if aplicable. Usually start around 10am until maybe 1pm, then after lunch, another couple of hours. They seem very flexible, and groups quite small, ours was 7 people last season and 6 the year before that.
Should add that I am speaking about Borosports here, if you go with Hunters or I think the Samokov Hotel has their own instructors, they may be slightly different.
Have a great time, and just go with the flow.....!
We went with Borovet ski school and had a very pleasant instrutor. Mixed ability group. He even allowed out 7 year old tdaughter to stay with us which was a blessed relief. As it turned out she was as good as any and a better skier than some by the end of the week. The instructors would like you to follow them to their selected restaurants. At first I thought hang on this is a bit much. But I went with the flow and to be honest at 4 hours a day ski instruction a few lev extra at ...
Hi all

At first I thought hang on this is a bit much. But I went with the flow and to be honest at 4 hours a day ski instruction a few lev extra at lunch is fine with me. These guys earn every dime and the tips that were given at the end of the week indicated that our group was very happy with the instructor. A simple no or do not fancy it will suffice to save you any hassle. These guys get peanuts for salary and do provide great service and are good fun too. They have some very un PC opinions which can be very refreshing and often hilarious. Good guys lads to have a beer with I reckon.
One great thing about the Borovets ski school groups going for lunch together is that you get to know your group well. I've been a few times and usually the fun we had with people we got to know via lessons is one of the things that I remember most. We often ended up having a meal or two in the evenings together as well (the Bulgarian night with big jugs of hot Raki was great).
I also enjoyed learning a bit about Bulgarian life from the instructor.
Ref food/prices etc, I found the lunches ...

Ref food/prices etc, I found the lunches at all resturants except those right on the top to be good. Shopska salad and the soups were excellent and good value. When I was at the top for food, I just had a cheap snack and drink as it was not so good (but still nice to have a sit down).
Roll on Jan 23rd! Looking forward to that first beer in the Titanic.
