Hi Allison
I have been taking School groups away for the past 17 years, normally to Austria, but your EHI card will cover you for free treatment as all EU countries have free reciprocal medical treatment. You might have to pay initially but will definitely be reimbursed. Always carry your card and passport with you in a safe pocket and dont keep anything else in it so you never have to open it unless you have an accident. The EHI card does not cover medicines or accomodation if you are hospitalised or transportation, ie Ambulance , that is when your insurance is used. The hospital will normally ask you when you are due to leave and will give you a 'fit to fly letter' which you have to present at check in. Full leg casts and shoulder injuries where the arem is set away from the body will mean you will need extra seats and you should contact the airline asap. You insurance company will probably do this for you. Contact the emergency number on your insurance paper asap. They should do a lot of the admin for you, liasing with the hospital and travel company. Dont pay anything without their say so and obviously keep all receipts. Hopefully you will be injury free. Good luck
you will be allowed to fly home. Check your insurance to see what you are covered for, some dont cover for off pieste skiing, although on a first trip you are unlikely to do this you can end up skiing off pieste by accident and if anything happened they wont pay, also check what cover you have for getting off a mountain should you need it, hope you dont be be aware of what you are covered for.
Make sure you take your insurnce cover with you as well not your vehicle breakdown cover like I ...
