im off to pamps 4 weeks today and was wondering is it worth buyin wax here or to wait till i get over there i was also going to buy a few other bits and bobs like a new leash and sharpening stonecheers

Different waxes are used for different tempertures and snow conditions. Something you wont know until you get there.
Also to Hot Wax you'll need a waxing iron. The often called "Express Wax", with you can easliy apply cold onto your ski/board are ok, but they dont last long and dont perform as well either. About half a day and its gone. A good Hot wax should last a couple of days at least.
So after all that, my advice is get someone to Hot wax your board there. You'l know the ...
