Might help you to pick up a buyers guide on gear like the one free with November Document Snowboard magazine, if you are new to snowboarding, I would start with your own boots, fitted in this country, so you can wear them in around the house and get used to them, don't buy off the web, get advice here from shops, maybe pick up last years style in the sale, hire boards and bindings seem Ok. Snowboard equipment didn't seem very cheap to me in Bansko, maybe Borovets is ok, I think there are ...

Any chance you can get to an indoor snowslope for a lesson before you go, it will really help.
Enjoy your holiday.
Go to TSA @ Tamworth snowdome. They are great and will only advise you on the right boot rather than the most expensive. See Andy there and he will point you in the right direction.
If it's your first time I wouldn't bother buying until you know that you want to go again. If you hire one then you can do whatever you like to it and not worry about damaging it. If you do still want to buy I'd suggest going to the metro ski show at Olypia this week.
You would have to be superhuman to damage a snowboard, they are pretty tough, if you do think you will snowboard again in the future, you can't beat time spent on your own board, you will improve far more on a proper set up, especially gear designed for beginners which is cheaper than pro stuff, if you can afford it I recommend starting with boots and the board if possible. If you don't like it sell it all on ebay.
hi melissa.. youll deffo be doing it again but
if i were you id buy some boots to start with, the boots from the hire shop will be okay, maybe even new but you dont know whos been wearing them and they are generally a bit smelly..have a look on ebay and youll pick up a new pair from one of the ebay shops..winter_shack and bargainboards do some good deals. with the board id say once you can actually snowboard its worth trying different makes, lengths, widths etc to see what suits..you can ...

but if youve got your heart set on getting all your own gear then dont go blow a fortune...as a beginner you wont notice the difference between a £100 board and £500 board...same applies to the bindings... you should be able to pick up a full set-up, board, bindings and boots for less than £200 on ebay..
Cool when in Feb are you going? Im planning to buy my board and bindings out there but get my boots here so i can wear them in a bit and also use them on my balance board
That is unless i get too excited and splash out here instead!!
