E-mail address is: danche_gm@yahoo.com (Which I got from one of her postings on here).
You may also find the associate site BulgarianProperties.com linked on here useful as well.
have recently become the owner of property in bansko we are planning to run as a catered ski chalet. we have only bought the shell of the house and are planning to go over week sat to discuss with builders finishing it
you have to open a company and a bank account with 5000 leva (which is closed when the purchase is complete) which costs a few hundred pounds as currently foreigners cannot own land but a company in your name can.

expect to pay over the odds for the property (still very cheap by UK standards) as a brit, as the owners can get a lot more for properties sold to foreigners, not fair maybe but wouldn't we do the same??
you also have to pay a percentage of the purchase price to the estate agents plus the equliviant of stamp duty, and local taxes approx cost for all is 10% of purchase price.
our property completed will have cost us approx £125,000 it's four stories approx 480 square meters including the attic and cellar, the plan is to have ski/boot room , laundry, 2 x storerooms, toilet and a room with sauna, jacuzzi bath and splash shower in the cellar
open plan lounge/dining room, kitchen, guest kitchen, toilet, and a bedroom with an ensuite bathroom on the ground floor.
a further five bedrooms one connecting with a shared ensuite bathroom the other three with ensuite bathrooms and a small store room on the first floor.
two bedrooms and an open plan living area for us to live in, in the attic
our house is alot more expensive than you need to pay as it is in a ski resort, but
be aware house prices are rising quickly in all the popular area's due to demand from brits, you can still find properties in the small villages away from the tourist attractions for a few thousand pounds.
bulgaria is due to join the comman market in 2007 and this in itself is likely to inflate prices.
there are several estate agents who speak english but you will be charged to view properties!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
mmm....Yes its been a long time since i heard of Glynis..it would be interesting to know how Devenshire Lodge is doing ..i was amazed at the property going around it ..although it did need some workdoing..so come on Glynis let us know>>>>
Wendy..
buying property over there certainly seems to make sense , it does anoy me to hear that we ,as brits would have to pay more than locals and to answer your question , no , we would not do that here, its just not done .
however as you say , its still cheep and with bulgaria joining the common market soon its seems the time to get in now.so certainly woth a good think .
mr ski
just a little addendum, we have been looking at property for some time now , especially in borovets, but currently there is a big problem over who owns the land that is being and has been sold, so until thats resolved id stay well away. If you buy outside the resort 5+ miles youll find property is very cheap for us, but the farther away you get the les rental income you are likely to receive. If you buy outside the resort 5+ miles youll find property is very cheap for us, but the farther away you get the les rental income you are likely to receive. Depending on how well you know the place and have local contact its quite possible to get some very good deals, but the most important is get yourself a well clued up solicitor, as unfortunately you will be told what you want to hear!!! and not necassarily be as covered as youd like!
can help with more details especially concerning borovets if you like.
all the best
What is the rental market like near Borovets? I had looked at some of the property pages, but not sure if rental could cover the maintainance on a small house. Also how do you get to resort from a few miles out? Would we need to get a car that would not be used for long periods?
