buying ski gear at resort...

Just wondering if anyone buys there ski gear at resort or at home... I know a lot of people hire and thats what i always do but i have bought some boots here in the uk and am now looking to buy a pair of ski's. Wondering if anyone knows any shops with websites in borovets to have a look at or if anyone has bought from shops they could recommend???

I would imagine the gear would be a bit cheaper over there as everything else seems to be Very Happy

I have purchased boots and a helmet in Borovets. Got a good deal on both although I have to admit that when I purchased the boots I had some help from a local who took me into a shop owned by his friend. Helmet was last one left and in the sale and I purchased with a credit card so saved even more money as the exchange rate was better that way. There are loads of shops in Boro selling from ex hire to brand new top of the range. There is a Rossignol shop under the Ela hotel opposite the ...

There are loads of shops in Boro selling from ex hire to brand new top of the range. There is a Rossignol shop under the Ela hotel opposite the Samokov hotel and I hired my skis from him last season. Good stuff but not sure if better price than UK but it may be possible to try before buying. There is a place next to the Gondola that often has a good deal but the best that I ever saw was at a Sunday market in Sofia.

re: buying ski gear at resort...

Have bought both skis and boots in borovets. Went to the shop oposite the samokov near the white magic. Bought my first set of skis there and went back and changed them there. Good service and price and also honest. was going to change my boots as they were looking old but the lady in the shop convinced me not too as my boots are very comfy and well up to my needs so no hard sell just service.

re: buying ski gear at resort...

If that's the shop with the huge step up and astroturf on the patio area out front, that's where I got the board I'm using at the moment.

They do a decent wax and edge service in there too, although it's all old school with the toko hand tools and wax iron (that took me back!)

In saying that I wouldn't normally buy out there, but the board I initially had with me got written off on the second day (it now lives on Franco's roof). I knew I was coming back out later in the season, and as ...

In saying that I wouldn't normally buy out there, but the board I initially had with me got written off on the second day (it now lives on Franco's roof). I knew I was coming back out later in the season, and as I had paid for the carriage and had a brand new set of bindings that had survived unscathed, it made sense to buy rather than hire for the remainder of the holiday ... I would end up getting a new board as soon as I got back to the UK anyway.
