Yes, it is rather a recurrent theme isn't it! Been having a bit of a beef with the tour company because as complete novices we didn't know that snow was particularly iffy this early on in Dec in Bansko (or Bulgaria generally) and wanted to know why we weren't told there was a possibiity of no snow when a large proportion of the holiday price involved ski hire, lift passes etc not to mention dri slope lessons. They did reply to us and have assured us (while glossing over the failure of the salesperson to disabuse us of our innocence regarding snowfall) that the cannons have been firing madly for the past week and that the nursery slopes are now primed for us rank amateurs. Those of you with more pizazz to your skiing will be pleased to know that the cannon have now moved up the slopes to get things ready for those who can do it parallel!
We arrive in Bansko at the weekend and are trying to be optimistic.
It's true, the cannons have been working at Bansko and Borovets, in fact if you look at the Borovets webcam at 10am this morning you can see that there was enough snow for them to run the drag lift on the left hand side
However, you will be pleased to know that REAL snow (from the sky) is forecast for bulgaria this weekend!
