was in bansko jan 13 th this year and found no cash machines would take english cards. spoke to some ex-pats and they said since they joined the e u all the cash machines stopped working. (except 1). Does any-one know if this has been sorted out yet as i am going in a few weeks for xmas/new year. thanks
The cash machine opposite the Lion bar ( part of the Stazhiti hotel ) has accepted my card over the last 4 years or so . There is one down near the post office in the old town also works fine .
On occasion the main bank link with Sofia goes down and can take a day or so to get going again .
We found the same earlier this year, couldn't get any cash machines at all to accept our cards. If you're desparate for cash you can actually go into the bank with your passport and credit card and they will put this through. Quite high charges for doing this though from what I remember but useful as a last resort.
The Perun Hotel had a cash machine and the United Bulgarian Bank and can't remember the name but near the main chemist in the square their was a bank, I was their for 5 months so I should know !
