cash or cards?

going to borovets in a few weeks with some friends. i've read all sorts of different things regarding the best way to get some cash. i understand that sterling needs to be clean notes but should i wish to withdraw cash from the ATMs do i need to bank with a specific bank or will i be better using my credit card? also, do i need to exchange any left over currency back into sterling before i leave? what's the best bureau de change kiosk to use? is there a specific reason why we should keep our ...

choice is yours, as jojo said Nationwide dont charge, best exchange rates seem to be from the atm,
or you could take good old cash,posters from this forum have reported that banks over there will refuse dirty ,worn,torn or written on notes, it seems these are the best ways to get a good axchange rate, however if you look around in the UK you can find 2.7 lev to the pound, marks and spencer has been mentioned for giving good rates, its your choice as what suits you. you need not ...

or you could take good old cash,posters from this forum have reported that banks over there will refuse dirty ,worn,torn or written on notes, it seems these are the best ways to get a good axchange rate, however if you look around in the UK you can find 2.7 lev to the pound, marks and spencer has been mentioned for giving good rates, its your choice as what suits you. you need not worry about changing your money back, you will enjoy yourself so much you can keep it for your next trip, failing that , change your money over here and ask for a buy back deal from the bank you exchange with or better still take your Nationwide card and draw a little at a time from the atm.
There is a bank at the bottom gondola station opposite the Samokov hotel which friends of mine have used without any problems in previous years.
To answer your final question yes there is a specific reason keep you valuables in the hotel safe, and that is , you would be stupid not to where ever you go in the world as hornster says.

Can you use visa debit cards (not credit) in the ATM's?

After reading the postings yesterday I went to M&S and changed a little bit of money for when we 1st arrive, didn't need to order it they had it in.

Yeah debit cards are fine, nationwaide cards are free from charges Razz
