christmas dinner

Hi everyone.

Has anybody had one of those 'compulsary' christmas dinners at one of the hotels in the ski resorts? My brother and I are going this christmas and I was just wandering what the christmas meals are like. I am not too fussy and despite many peoples opinions dont actually mind the food in the hotels. Can I expect something special?

Also whats the 6km blue in Borovets? I have only been there once, and the 1 chair was closed. Is it true there is a long blue run?

Thanks

We used to give that blue a miss as it involved too much uphill skiing, ie pole use, its very gentle and very scenic but can be hard on the arms!!

Thanks, not keen on those arm aching sections. You see those people with good techiques that skate along on their skis but that isnt me unfortunately. Thanks for the warning, perhaps I will give it a go and earn my beer

re: christmas dinner

I did that 6km blue - there wasn't too much uphill stuff - just a little by the kings residence, but if you get a good start, you find you'll glide over most of it anyway.

I went with my instructor at 9am - we were the first ones up on the one man chair that day and it was so peaceful and quiet - made such a difference from the humdrum the rest of the day. Anyway - it wasn't nearly as bad as the flat section at the end of the green in Pamps!!!

We went with Balkan 2 years ago to the Samokov in Boro and the Xmas dinner was OK. They really tried to do a good one and with lots of wine. We met a good bunch of people and the last of us left the nightclub in the basement at about 3.30 am. Thoroughly enjoyed it until the next morning when the slopes looked flat and the bedroom floor was definitely on the slope. I suppose it depends who you are near on the table
