conditions in Pamporovo

With no snow having fallen in Pamps for such a long time. Does anyone who has just returned know if good skiing is still possible or should I just think about a "walking holiday"?

re: conditions in Pamporovo

Returned today 11/0306.
Conditions are deteriorating and the reps say that without snow they will shut snow schools down next week. There is no snow forcast or any in sight!
It was very icy on the 10th march and there was talk of 35 injuries that morning. One of our party did her ankle in on the green run 200 metres in, as it was very icy. Not even the Locals were out!
Pity anyone going this week or booked for next week.
More to follow

re: conditions in Pamporovo

Hi All,
Just got back in from Pamps this afternoon, Conditions have now really deteriorated, Any runs that are open are just pure ice and bare patches. Have had to walk down to the lifts every morning over solid ice, It is no fun believe me, lots of people falling and really hurting themselves. The instructors were wanting to cancel lessons this week coming because of the conditions, but Balkan is keeping the lessons open. Had a fabulous instructor called Nick, really patient and helpful ...

The instructors were wanting to cancel lessons this week coming because of the conditions, but Balkan is keeping the lessons open. Had a fabulous instructor called Nick, really patient and helpful training us on the blue runs with the bad conditions had a great week with him. Was hoping to have our last day up the mountain yesterday, but just being intermediate was unable to ski on the ice as most people were. No forecast of snow for the coming week but will keep my fingers crossed for everyone out there this week. Lots of accidents out there so be careful and have a good holiday. Very Happy Cool Exclamation Crying

re: conditions in Pamporovo

Agree 100% with Lorna re the conditions, really I thought the slopes should have been closed by yesterday as they had been deteriorating day by day.The beginners who were there were very brave to carry on skiing on either sheet ice or water, literally!Never seen as many people in plaster casts or bruised and cut faces.Just a word on the Hotel Pamporovo,we got a late cheapie so wasnt too worried about the standards of food, which was OK and our room also but they fall down on things like chipped ...

Noticed a sizeable price increase on last year in mountain restaurants,if they want to charge Western Europe prices then the standards will have to rise as well
Just one more thing, why do some bars etc insist on charging to use their toilets when you are already spending a decent amount of cash over the bar.Even the White Hart does this. Our little gang spent 100 lev on apres ski drinks in there and had to pool our small change
so we could use the loo.Not good enough.
Despite these little moans we had a good time and as always met some really fun people.
We've been 3 times now but I think that will be all for a while,I think it will be interesting to see if the ski area is developed as planned and will the building boom burst?
