re: currency

If they do change it won't be for several years. Consider what they would need to alter.

Cash Machines.
Vending Machines.
All Bank Stationary.
Computers.
Parking Machines.
Pay Structures.
etc. etc. etc.

They are not going to wake up one morning to see that it has all changed overnight. Confused

re: currency

It took quite a few months to change over in Germany. They prepared themselves for years. Afterwards most of the population were convinced they were getting ripped off.

re: currency

not ripped off Dave; all the prices went up slowly from month to month..some people have lists of the prices in 2002 and today!
OMG! And even I have to confess that I don't know the prices anymore of bread, milk, etc.

re: currency

BG will switch to the euro in 2010 or thereabouts. Til then the rate will remain fixed at BGN1.95mumble to the euro. Probably.

re: currency

EU and European Monetary Union are different things. Not all EU countries (incl UK) are members of the monetary union. Bulgaria will join the monetary union not earlier than 2009. So no worries...same old lev will be used and the exchange rate vs Euro will remain the same: 1 Eur = 1.95 BGN
