re: diabetes

Hi my mate came skiing with us a couple of years back, absolutely no problem all he did was ensure that he had a few chocolate bars in his pocket/rucksack and an energy drink, in all honesty he had no problems at all, and we probably skied harder than most by being on the mountain from 9 until 4.30 everyday.
Like any medical condition ensure he has the right medication and people who are with him know the drill in any emergency and contact numbers. But there are plenty of restaurants on the ...

re: diabetes

I've been type 1 diabetic for over 30 years now and inject insulin 4 times a day.

I have never had a problem but as the above post correctly says - always ensure you are equipt with sugar and insulin whenever you venture out.

Many places on the slopes to buy chocolate so there s no need to worry.

Just enjoy!!!

re: diabetes

cheers pp we are told the insulin he must carry with him must not freeze or get to cold in his ruck sack how do you manage on very cold days one worry he has is if he will have the stamina as he is a very active boarder

re: diabetes

You can buy covers etc for lunch boxes to keep things cool in the summer. These too like any good insulation work both ways so will keep the frost away in the cold.

Have fun Very Happy

re: diabetes

i am type 2 diabetic, have been for years doesnt stop me doing anything .
i just learnt what signes to look out for ie.
i get bad tempered when high, and tired when low.
as i drink loads of beer you would think it would be high all the time but alcohol seems to make you go hypo glycemic.
dont let it stop him in any way, remember the rower redgrave is also diabetic.
have a great time
see you on the slopes

re: diabetes

I use the pen and keep it in my inside pocket.

For that to freeze it would need to be colder than anything I have experienced in 16 years of skiing in Bulgaria.
