I went skiing last year for the first time and didnt wear a helmet however I go out to pamps on 3rd march and have just ordered them for myself and family, just wondered if everyone else wears them. cheers
My family and I went Skiing for the first time to Borovets last year. My son wore a helmet but we did not. I was very surprised how many adults wear them now, compared to my previous skiing holiday, albeit twenty years previously. After also listening to the advice on here, we went and bought two and will definately be wearing them this year. Virtually all the kids and a large proportion of the adults were wearing them.
Hope this helps
Very sensible Lisa - wearing a hemet is a cool thing to do and they are becoming very popular now. We skied in Italy 2 weeks ago and I would say 75% of all skiers and boarders were wearing them. It has now become compulsary there for anyone under 17 to wear one.
Hope to meet you in March as we arrive the same day.
Interesting prog on radio 4 last week, head injuries have not gone down since the trend for helmet wearing but all other injuries have gone up as helmet wearers are deemed to be taking more risks. I have always worn a helmet and was glad of it when a novice skier, out of control took me out from behind, he hit my head and back but back protection and helmet saved getting sliced by his skies, he was hospitalised for some time and all his fault, not wearing a helmet was seen as foolish on his ...

I find them more comfy than itchy woolen hat.
Seriously, I wouldn't take chances when it is so easy to put one on. It's all about 'Just in case'.
I wear a helmet & a body protector when I ride horses and a helmet on my bike.
This is going to be my first time skiing with a helmet.
France last year my friend came off and a boarder missed his head by fractions!! He was so lucky, if the guy had hit him he would be dead!! Is it worth it ?? I don't often come off, it others you should worry about.
28yr old. Only been skiing and boarding for 2 yrs. Got a helmet last year. Wasn't sure if I'd wear it much but since getting it I've always worn it. During my small time on the slopes it does appear that more people are wearing helmets.
Personally - wouldn't feel confortable without. It's is all about the 'just in case' - even if you're an amazing skiier or boarder, we all tend to push to the limits and beyond - and things happen. Plus you can never account for the stupidity of others
