Budget airline easyJet will raise the frequency of its flights to Bulgaria in mid-December, counting on higher demand during the Christmas and New Year holidays, the company said on November 2 2011.

The carrier will launch a second daily flight from Sofia to London on weekends, which will depart for the UK capital at 8.40pm on Saturdays and at 9.30pm on Sundays, arriving in Sofia 40 minutes earlier.

Together with the flights available between Monday and Friday, easyJet will operate up to nine two-way flights every week between London and Sofia. In addition to the flights to Manchester, easyJet will serve up to 12 return flights in both directions.

"Many Bulgarians live in the UK and travel for business or leisure. We are launching this second daily flight to Bulgaria on weekends because we want to meet Bulgarians' utmost needs to travel to and from London. We expect a higher load factor of our flights in December and January because of the festive period and will offer the best quality and service to our customers," Peter Voets, easyJet's marketing manager for Switzerland, Austria and Eastern Europe, said.
