est Resort for X-Country and Begginners

Hi,
We are thinking about going to Bulgaria for 10 days at the end of January and would like any reccomendations for good resorts.
As we are both complete novices we are looking for somewhere with a mix of slopes and good English speaking Ski Istructors. We would also like to have a few days X-Coutry Skiing so we neeed a School/Region for this.
As it will be a first trip to Bugaria we would like to have a look at the cities as well, any suggestions on this that can be combined with ...

I think you will find you can only go for a week, or two weeks, but I may be wrong. Have you looked at the links on the site for information on Borovets, Pamporpva and Bansko? I only have 1st hand experience of Pamps, but from what I hear the instructors are all good english speakers, very freindly and very accommodating. Pamporova is porpose built skiing village (and walking in the summer), but has little to do other that skiing (and drinking of course). There are a few day trips out, but ...

From what I understand Borovets is larger, but much the same. Bansko, on the other hand is the smaller of the 3, less developped as a skiing centre, but built round an existing Bulgarian town and has alot more going for it as far as culture is concerned. Going on what I have read, it has more X-country oppertunities as well.
Where ever you end up, you will have a great time skiing in BG.

Hi Nick,if you are thinking of downhill skiing & x-country you will need 2 diffent sets of skis.
Borovets is great for both as well as close to Sofia & the Rila Monestery - both worth a visit.

Hey Nick, I'am not sure if 10 day trips from GB are possible from germany we got no pros with it. A trip to the Rila Monastery is great but to see Sofia is not a must better to look Plovdiv, but by the way bulgarian cities in the winter are not so interesting. Xcountry skiing is really small possibiltiies in BG, but they are some . In Borovez also but I hope you are a good skier, they are not easy...the most of them are hiking routes and small with many trees and under the snow big stones ...
