well hubby has just realised that Bulgaria is not joining the euro till 2013 so we will have to give him pound notes then take it off him till he goes skiing LOL he is so bad with money if he gets it in his pocket before he goes he will spend it .....
Bulgaria is very unlikely to adopt the Euro as its currency, the final decision could go to a referendum. It should have been accepted in June of this year, but was put back by the new government because of its widespread unpopularity...

Euros are an option, especially if you can get a good rate before you come out to BG, the rate to Leva is fixed at 1.995 Lv-E, normally if exchanging Euro there will be a small commission and likely you will get 1.95... Nobody takes Euros, except maybe apartment agents, foreign businesses, and the police in a bribe..
Agree with Steve C here and make sure you avoid any of the non-crown booths - you can get a different rate outside than inside and no matter how many times we tell people, we still end up with upset tourists hating Bulgaria....!
