re: excursions

Iv been to Borovets but i didnt do any excursions, but after the 1st days skiing, your rep will hold a welcome meeting where they tell about local places to visit and to try and sell you excursions. Sofia and Rila monastry should be there. There will be other places too, but im not sure where. Good luck.

re: excursions

We are flying out tomorrow and went 6 years ago. I went on the full day trip to Sofia which involved some sightseeing in the morning (mainly churches!) then you were free to do your own thing for lunch and the afternoon. There were a couple of nicer / fairly upmarket shopping centres but other than that we didn't find anythign else to do in Sofia.

We did go horse-riding in the village which was lovely riding through the snow and the views were great. Was like riding through the front ...

Was like riding through the front of a christmas card Very Happy - might not suit everyone but my friend came with me and she had never ridden before - it's only at a walk in any case because of the snow!

we went to Borovets last Feb with our daughter for her 21st Birthday we didn't do any skiing but had a fantastic time just walking round the resort, we also walked up to the kings palace which is just up the hill going out of the resort the house wasn't open but the gardens were.my daughter went for a horse ride and on the final day we walked the trail they went on its was beautiful took us about 3 hrs just strolling through the snow well worth the effort.

we went on a couple of excursions one was the bulgairian eve that was a good laugh and we went to sofia before going to the airport on the return home (didn't like that at all scruffy and lots of pick pockets)
we loved Borovets and it was are first ever trip to the snow we are going to Pamporovo 2011 cant wait.

re: excursions

I haven't been there (yet) but I have heard that the old town of Plovdiv is worth a visit. If they hire a car there are some pretty villages around Samokov to drive through too.

re: excursions

I think you got bad press there regarding Sofia, it a lovely city, well worth the visit. After all what big town or city anywhere in the world dont have pick pockets. Just guard your handbags and wallets and they wont get to you. AND it certainly isnt scruffy.
