first ski in Bulgaria

Hi, we are thinking of skiing in Bulgaria last 2 weeks of Jan (and maybe buy a property if things work out!!).After some advice on a decent hotel, 3 singles half board, pref with pool and gym but also realistic price and if anyone can advice on flights from uk, gatwick or pref southampton if they do any!and anything else please, we are intermediate to pro with our own gear!. A bit of nightlife would be good but not essential.

Don't expect so much of Bulgaria Martyn. To get a hotel with gym and pool will be a struggle. Depending on what resort you chose, but if you plump for Pamporovo the best 2 are Morgavets or Pamporovo Hotels.

There is an indoor pool in the Perelik you can use if you stay in the Morgavets but last year it was quite cold in there. Last 2 weeks in Jan should be perfect for snow conditions. We have gone weeks 5 and 6 for the last 12 years and always had good snow.

Maybe see you there ...

would definately stay in the hotel pamporovo in pamporovo. the swimming pool is nice. they also have a bowling alley at the hotel as well as a night club and an irish bar so if you didnt want to go far then you can stay in. if you do wana go out there are plenty of bars within a 7-8 min walk or a 2min taxi ride. taxis are cheap as is the alcohol. if you have skied a lot then bulgaria will be cheap compared to anywhere else. if you want a decent hotel go for at least a 4 or 5 star as their ...

have fun!

I would have thought Bansko would be you're best bet if you're intermediate to pro level as the runs are longer and snow better - although for the times you state snow in any place will be good, the season is slightly longer in Bansko due to its higher altitutude Nightlife is not as developed as Pamps or Borovets, as its a fairly new resort but might be right if you are looking for a property in an up and coming location (for holidays).

I've never been there as I'm a Pamp veteran, so I ...

I've never been there as I'm a Pamp veteran, so I can't recommend a hotel of the standard you seek, but Pamps does have some really quite good hotels, by any standard, as people have said.
Take a look at the hotels in the Bansko section of this website there are ones available with pools and gyms.
Cheers,
Wiggy
