Hi I was wondering if anybody can give me any information about what to expext for our first sking experience. We have booked to go to Borovets the Yagoda Village (HB) flying out on 23rd December 2006, for a week. 4 Adults a 12 year old and a 13 year old. Any info would be great e.g What to wear, Money to take,What time Ski School Starts in the mornings. anything that will make our first ski holiday enjoyable would be great.

Hi first of all expect great fun, have stayed at borovets twice and was great, dont know about the yagoda, but not heard anything bad so i suppose thats a blessing,
what to wear if you dont want to lay out loads of money
try going to tk max some good bargains to be had and good names too, someone will tel you about money, i have'nt been for a few years, is it still levas, or are they takin the euro now? ski school if i remember (through the fuzzy haze=hangovers) about 8:30 to 9:00 ish ...

Been to Borovets for the last 2 years and going again in Feb. TK Maxx is good for gear. You will need good gloves and a hat. Wear a few layers under your jacket like a thermal vest, long sleeved top then a thin fleece.
Ski school starts at 10am for 4 hours with a break around 12 for lunch, you are usually finished by 3ish.
Night life is great and very casual. Take jeans and a sweater or zipper, have good boots to walk about in at night. Food in the hotels isn't very good and we have eaten ...

I usually take Levs, good rate at M&S. The bank in the Rila Hotel is a good place to change money. In feb this year we spent around £400 for 2 adults and a 14 year old. We ate out every night and had several drinks. You buy lunch on the slopes, usually just a drink and a snack.
You are sure to have a fab time.

HiWe also fly out on the 23rd - there's a spectacular light show (!) planned for that night to officially kick off the ski season !

Ebay is a good place to get kit. We got some very reasonable jkts (about £15) and salopettes (about £7.50) that were ex hire, and when they came they were in pristine condition. Found the same gear in a local ski shop for £50+!!!!!

Ebay is excellent, I have bought and re-sold the kids ski gear each year when they've outgrown it. That way what I get for one pays for the other.Always been excellent condition, alot of people only ski once and then sell on the new stuff they bought.
