re: going out in Samokov?

Hi there, There are some lovely restaurants in Samokov. There's Kokoshkova Kushta, I can't explain where it is but I'm sure someone else will be able to, in my opinion this is a 5star restaurant. There's also The Old House, a real Bulgarian restaurant but you may have to book. There's also Target, a lovely restaurant. I'm sure there are lots more but can't think of them at the moment. As for the nightlife I haven't really been out much at night but there is K-Bar, run by an english ...

I'm sure Steph could recommend a few good restaurants also. Enjoy.

Nothing left to say.
Starata Kashta, The Old House, is worth visiting. But yes, you have to book a table. They are English speaking or you only have to say: Moje li edna mesa za dvama (for two), za trima (for three) za tazi vetchar. Moje bi v osem tshasa (for eight 0´clock) na semeistvo (name).
Enjoy the meal.

Another recommendation for Kokoshkova Kushta.

We took a taxi there from Borovets, but the food was wonderful, the ambience was very pleasant as well, and the price was less than we'd paid the night before in Mamacitas for inferior food, wine and service.

going out in Samokov?

Hi Geert,

Night life is pretty non-existent in Samokov and I wouldn't recommend any of the nightclubs - they are usually full of fighting teenagers!! Most people take 3 or 4 hours over a meal, so you tend to get 'nightlife' in restaurants instead -

In terms of restaurants, I definitely recommend the Old House - and yes you have to book - it's the only place in Samokov where you have to!

I don't really like Kokoshkova Kushta - it's fine for a few of you, but if there's a lot of you 10 or so up, service is awful and although the food is ok, it's not as good as some of the other restaurants.

Target is probably our favourite - the food is fantastic - we went there for lunch yesterday at 1.30 and made it back at 10pm....!!!

Madarova is also good - but Old House and Target would be our preferred places.

re: going out in Samokov?

Have to agree with Kas here,

Kokushkova Kushta has gone downhill a little compared to our first visit 3 years ago, service is poor if you are not Bulgarian we found last week, even though we were with a BG friend. Bobby suggested Target, Jeesus the amount of scran you get was unbeleivable! The young girl who serves on her own was also very helpful and cheerful. So we went back twice!! 1,50lv for Kamenitza, 2.00lv for Staropramen.

Your directions were spot on too Bobby, you gave us ...

Your directions were spot on too Bobby, you gave us them last sunday morning at 8.45am looking like sh###e.

One other restaurant which needs a recommedation is Sonatas, directions for this outside T- Market.
