I have been viewing this site almost constantly for the last month trying to get an idea of what Borovets is like and would like to say thanks for all the advise and opinions you have all given. It's been very useful.
I'm going to Borovets on 31 January, staying in the Samokov with my girlfriend. We have never skied before but I'm sure we'll have a great time. My girlfriend is a bit nervous but I'm determined to get her into it. She's promised she won't give in.

I guess even if she doesn't like the sking we'll certainly have a good time in the evening as we both love drinking and socialising (and eating).
Just 2 questions:
What time are the bars open until?? and also what time do we have to meet with our ski school instructor in the mornings??

Most of the busy bars are open until 4am.Meet instructors at 10am for 10.30am start.

Bars seem to be always open. 2 Bars in Borovetz last year were open 24hrs, which is nice as our balcony was right above 1 of them.re: good advise
see you in the samakov, leaving gatwick 31st at 1530 all being well, you should have a great time, but if your girlfriend goes for a massage this may well include a chest massage, dont let her get shocked, this is not a joke either!!!!!re: good advise

Last year in Borovets the instructors met you anytime between 9.30 and 10.30. It was up to you as a group to decide on a time and meeting place.All very flexible. Our group always met at 10.00 as several of us had kids to get into kindergarten or ski school before we could sort ourselves out.
