re: helmets

I think it is true but in any case, what price do you put on your child's life/well-being? Nothing would be too expensive if it means it will protect my children from harm...

re: helmets

Have you tried T K Maxx?
They had some at the Swindon branch last week, and although I didn't check the prices they are always very competitive.

Helmets are for sale in all the resorts, but again I have no idea of prices.

I think what you are doing is extremely sensible.

£25 can't be considered expensive can it? It's your kid's head! Anyway, sorry, don't mean to sound judgemental or owt, after some of the tumbles my little nightmare took last year (including falling off the side of the mountain and crashing through the trees because she 'forgot to turn'!) I wouldn't let her on the snow without one & you can't ever guarantee that a hired one is 100% bump free and potentially damaged. Just like a cycle helmet, it's a necessary piece of equipment.

(I'm looking to get me some wrist guards for my pathetic girly limbs, anyone know of a good stockist?)

re: helmets

Smartie, be careful of buying second hand helmets... if they have been dropped on a hard floor then they could have a hairline crack in them which could render them useless in an accident.

Buy new, be sure (and avoid nits!).

re: helmets

Get a helmet !!! I didn't last year and felt very irresponsible when I was standing next to my daughter in the medical centre in Bansko whilst she was having her head stitched up.

re: helmets

You might already be aware but if anybody has booked a skiing holiday with Thomsons and you have booked a childs learn to ski pack you qualify for a free childs ski helmet. About 4 or 5 pages into the brochure is a small section on this, all you need to do is send a copy of your booking confirmation and a payment for £4.99 postage and packing. Our's arrived today and for what little it cost I'm well chuffed and it's peace of mind knowing the kids are a bit safer.
