Hi everyone , i am from the hot side .Recently my wife has dropped hints that she would like to go on a skiing holiday.
So we got the balkan brochure and hey presto , she has picked ,pamparovo . We have never skied , so are looking at the learn to ski package ,where you get boots and skies , is there a place where you can rent the clothing , is there any hotels to avoid , are there plenty of cafe's and places to eat and drink . thank you , bill.

re: help

Hi,
There are places to rent but if you wait until november you can pick up a new ski suit (jacket and salopettes) for £40 at Aldi, i have had one of their suits for 3 years now and just as good as expensive ones, the only real expense should be good quality gloves, the rest of the kit you need you can pick up for a few pounds each, you should easily get kitted out for £100 each if you shop around

re: help

ebay is good for ski gear, worth buying now as there are less bidders and prices are lower come october november time people start looking.

if you are in ski school the instructor usually takes you in places for lunch. There are plenty of cafe bars on the slopes so no need to worry. As for hotels for a good central location and first pick up for ski bus, the Hotel Orlovetz five star really nice, Snezhanka recently done up, stayed there two years ago nice staff no complaints, Hotel ...

if you are in ski school the instructor usually takes you in places for lunch. There are plenty of cafe bars on the slopes so no need to worry. As for hotels for a good central location and first pick up for ski bus, the Hotel Orlovetz five star really nice, Snezhanka recently done up, stayed there two years ago nice staff no complaints, Hotel Murgavets nice four star hotel and Hotel Perelik little dated but great location. All these hotels are where the night life, resturants and shops ect are all but the snezhanka are linked by a tunel so no need to go out side. The perilik has a bowling alley and games room with pool tables.

As for your boots and skis you pick them up at the ski depot and leave them there over night. The rep will help you with that.

As for prices once you have found which hotel you want check on line with Thomson ski, crystal, inghams, neilsons and direct ski and see who comes up best.

Hope this helps

re: help

I have to agree that picking up ski wear is really cheap these days .....my friend came with us this year to pamps at the last minute and got a jacket and trousers for £40, a few pairs of socks, some gloves and a thermal top which they never wore as it was too warm all from sport and ski ( cheap sports shop in most city centres). The whole lot came in for less than £70. Hope this helps. Very Happy Very Happy

re: help

TX Max is again excellent for picking up last years ski gear - jacket and trousers for £50- the also do hats, gloves and goggles. Also picked up a really good pair of boots suitable for wearing either in the resort or up the slopes for £20.
Depends on when you are going. We have just come back from Bankso over Easter - plenty of snow but somedays we were in fleeces and no jackets. Charlie
