whats the coach transfer like from airport (plodiv) is it a death ride/re: histman/Plovdiv
No - very attractive in daylight and not much traffic.
The driver this morning had no problems (and none last week) despite a lot of snow.
Climbs steadily all the way up to Pamporovo (where conditions were tricky).
Takes about 90 minutes.
Plovdiv airport is **very very** basic (makes tiny Greek island airports look good).
No duty free or bar airside, so on the way back don't be fooled into holding back some dosh to spend there. You can't spend anything (tho' the Balkan Holidays ...

did you get a look at hotel pamporovo and despite the lack of snow was it a good time im going on3rd for two weeks what do u thinkre: histman/Plovdiv
Hotel Pamporovo is a large impressive 5* hotel tucked away from the centre, close to the new church.
Buses seemed to have a bit of a problem getting down to there after heavy snow.
The ski instructors referrred to it as the "mafia hotel" - lots of BMWs and 4*4s parked outside. However all of my ski group stayed there (I was at the Snejanka)and were very positive about it and the staff working there.
As to snow. I can't predict, but I reckon mid Jan should be OK.

If you are an intermidiate skier at ski school ask for Boran (v. good).
