I have stayed in them all over the years. The Lion is quite a way from the slopes and the centre and you need to catch their mini bus-it is walkable back(downhill)wouldn't want to do it with ski gear-Breza is smallish hotel near the gondola lift whereas the Samakov is a large hotel opposite the gondola-youcould look at the Alpin which is right on the slopes opposite the Rila and their bungalows are worth looking at for families -they offer half board even though brochure says bed and ...

The beginners slopes are outside or there is lift taking you up to Rila slopes also within a few yards-you can from there ski down to the gondola and back from Yastrabets or Moussale path without taking skis off.

HI lisa,

I agree with Thelma that the Alpin is great accommodation, however it is in a very different price category than the others you were looking at so it all depends on your budget.
For the price you are looking at Breza would be best -the rooms were all refurburished in 2011 season and although it is an excellent positiion, it is also quite quiet - for the Lion, as you have a little one, that may not be ideal due to the long walk. Moura and Ela are also good hotels and another to look at is the Flora, although the latter again is slightly higher price than the others.

We have the price lists for all the hotels if you want to compare, although they should have this in the brochures you are looking at if you are going for a package deal.

Cheers

Bobby & Kas

Don't forget the Iglika and their chalets. Situated just behind the Rila. Good value for money hotel

Id agree with Iglika, Lion is away from the centre although they provide a free minibus from hotel to the slopes. I looked at Alpin last year but was priced out against the Iglika
