has anyone ever been to hotel olymp? whats it like food, location etc.most important how are the pistes have they really got some new snow on them at last . going 31jan

I stayed in the Olymp last year so I thought I would share my views with you. It’s certainly not the Ritz and could do with modernising that said 15 of us stayed last year and it was warm clean and friendly.
If you’ve made a lot of money and you’re expecting luxury you’re going to be disappointed. If you’ve booked for a ‘good price’ I think you’ll be OK.

I stayed in the Olymp last year so I thought I would share my views with you. It’s certainly not the Ritz and could do with modernising that said 15 of us stayed last year and it was warm clean and friendly.
If you’ve made a lot of money and you’re expecting luxury you’re going to be disappointed. If you’ve booked for a ‘good price’ I think you’ll be OK.
The food had a lot of room for potential so we ate out every night….and yes it really is that cheap. Breakfast was OK…a bit basic but that with the emergency Mars Bar I had whilst skiing I was OK to lunchtime.
The hotel is about 10 minutes away from the main bit of the town in the morning and 20 minutes out of town in the evening. Why the difference simply because of big hill!!!!! We got cabs back each night for around £3.
You can walk down one of the pistes (on a fairly flat bit) or down the road. Look out for the kids sledging on trays etc they might take you out!!!
There are safe deposit boxed and you can change money up in the hotel at what I thought was a good rate. I must admit I don’t understand why so many people worry about where to change money up everything is so cheap. I’ll get off my soap box.
You can take your ski’s back to the hotel and they’ll look after them for a £1 per night or so. That way you can ski down to the town in the morning. Take a spare shoes if that is what you intend to do as the main ski / boot hire place is in town and you have to give your shoes over to get your boots etc.
The hotel has a bar…but be warned if the sofa’s are the same as last year they aren’t as comfortable as they look. The hotel also has a good size pool and sauna, steam room etc. The is a disco in the hotel but it was closed when we stayed.
The skiing itself was great….maybe more so for beginners and intermediate which is how I would class myself.
I think you’ll have a good time. Pretty much the same crowd are going back this year, which I would say is a good advert for Bulgaria etc.
