re: hotel rila

The deal is, some like what others don't, that is why you get such mixed reviews.
Go with an open mind if you can.
I am a pessimist, I go with the view that it could be worse than I think.
If it's bad, it is what I expected so no dissapointment, if it's good then it is better than I expected, bonus.
Whatever, unless the hotel falls down, you cannot fail to have fun!!! Very Happy

re: hotel rila

when i first went to the Rila in 2004 i felt the same after reading such mixed reviews. we did have an 8 hour transfer due to fog but once at the rila and borovets we had a fantastic time and went back in 2005 and are going back in Feb. the hotel is great,in the best location there is and not half as bad as what people say. our little boy is now 6 and is skiing better than me!! so enjoy yourself and ignore the reviews, some people just moan at owt!!!! :

Don,t worry about it I went to bulgeria a few years ago and as we left everyone was saying how bad it was and how bad the hotel was how expensive!!!!!!!!!! it was I think either I had sliped into a black hole or been on a totally different holiday as I thought it was great had a brill time the hotel was basic but ok and we thought it was cheap Very Happy if people have only been to spain france ect... they may be expecting to much as lewis said go with an open mind

re: hotel rila

We're off in a week too, the way I see it is that a hotel is basically somewhere to sleep, you don't go on holiday to spend 24 hrs a day in your hotel room, we like you are going with an open mind, buzzing already, can't wait and am sure it will be absolutely fantastic. I think the majority of the views I get of the Rila will be when I'm sat on my backside at the bottom of the slopes. Razz

See you there, myself and my wife will be the ones who are being helped along by a 3 and 8 year old.

re: hotel rila

Don't worry, all the negative reviews are from people who like it home from home, IT'S BULGARIA for goodness sake!!

re: hotel rila

stayed at the Rila last year, first skiing holiday and was worried by mixed reviews. It was great, the hotel is in the best location, just out of the front door are the slopes, shops and bars. rooms are clean and warm. Food is fine, probably as good as any hotel in borovets, its cheap to eat out if you want. views from balcony were great, we looked at other hotels while we were ther but are going back to rila next month. stop worrying, you'll hav a great time.
