Hi, every year i see posts on here about the new Gondola, i have been going to Bansko on and off for 5 years now and was told about the so called new Gondola on my very first trip, now as for the information i was told some 5 years ago, if its true or not we would have to wait and see, quote from a local with a lot of contacts in Bansko if they are to build a new Gondola the ground would have to be monitored for 9 years yes that is NINE YEARS if any movement in the ground at any one of these ...

now i am no engineer so don't shoot the messenger i am just passing information on that i was told a few years back if its correct or not we will have to see but if we have any engineers on the forum maybe they could shed some light on it and put all these poor people that have been told by property agents that a new Gondola is going to be built in the next couple of days.

i agree. comments about checking if the ground is moving are utter rubbish. Yes they check that it is stable under the gondola pylons and if not reinforce it with concrete and steel but this takes weeks not years. I have seen a new chair lift about 3km long be build within six months. work started at end of the season and was ready for November. Of course prior to starting the construction works the full lift had been assembled in the factory and just needed to be transported to the site. ...

I have seen a new chair lift about 3km long be build within six months. work started at end of the season and was ready for November. Of course prior to starting the construction works the full lift had been assembled in the factory and just needed to be transported to the site. Then they build concrete bases for the pylons. Used a helicopter to drop the pylons onto the concrete and then just strung up the cable etc. I'm over simplifying it but if you really wanted to, a lift can be built very quickly once you have done the correct preparation. I guess in Bansko they will need to cut trees too so that might extend the timeline. Personally I can't see them building a second gondola in Bansko for a long time as I'm not sure who would finance it or benefit (financially that is) from it
