We have just returned from a family skiing holiday to Bansko. Our first skiing holiday. Had a wonderful time. A big thankyou to our instructor Snejana who was fantastic and very patient. But everyone said how great their instructors were. We stayed at the Strazhite and although not quite finished it was very good. Swimming pool was finished as was the sauna. Other families stayed at the Pirin and said they would go back there. We will be going back to bansko - new gondola was breathtaking, all skis and boots were new too. You will have a great holiday. Beer is rediculously cheap in the taverns (40p)! The last comment was from my son.

I am going to the same hotel Jan 10 for a week with a 12 year old son. Is the location convenient (I understand it' s very close to Gondola - can you walk?) How far it is from Bansko center? Is the food OK? And also was there enough snow for most of the lifts to be opened? Were you in a ski school or did you have a private instructor? If you were at a school, was it well organized and not too overcrowded? How much did you pay for ski pass? Great that you had wonderful time. We cant wait to go. Thank you very much for any info that you may share.

You could walk to the Gondola but there is a ski bus from the hotel every 20 mins.
It would take about 10 mins downhill to the town centre but we were so tired we hardly left the hotel as it was very nice. Lots of taverns are nearer too. We found the food was fine- good selection of vegatables/salads/chicken/pork/rice even chips! breakfast was choice of cold meats,cheeses, fruit, cereals, bacon, eggs etc. The gym and tenpin bowling weren't ready when we went but may well be now. The pool was good.
We had a package which included the ski pass and school. Groups were small when we went but you could have individual tuition too. Snow was good.
