does anybody on here think the bulgarians are getting greedy,
i paid 25 lev for a 10 min ride on a pony and trap , 8 lev for a brandy choc, beers are 4 lev in the hotels.
what opinions do other skiiers have who have skied there this year?
Kel
not been to borovets, but in Pamps I paid 25 leva for two of us on a ten minute ride on a husky sledge, it was fantastic and worth every penny! Seeing it as a bit like a fairground ride - where you can pay a fiver for two minutes.
The main point about bulgarians getting greedy might have a bit of truth in it, but it's no different to the ice cream sellers here putting up the prices of cones next to the playground on a sunny afternoon - you have to make your money when you can. ...

Granted it's not as cheap as it used to be (but then it was embarrassingly cheap!) I reckon it's more in the realms of reasonable now.
On the slopes paid, 4 lev for chocolate brandy, 1 lev for lemon tea, 4 lev for gorgeous bean soup and 7 lev for beans (all twelve of them!) on toast in the snezhanka tower!
Happy times! We didn't go short, and didn't feel ripped off!
ok Keats fair coment, when i was in boro last i took a trip with some friends to the town of samokov, found out how cheap bulgaria really is , and beleive me the ski resorts are very expensive by bulgarian standards, 2 rounds of drinks for 5 people in a bar in samokov town was cheaper than 2 drinks in borovets! samokov town is about 5 miles away!!!
Kel
Fair comments but there are still cheap places in the resort!! And although getting more expensive it's still cheaper than any other ski resort. Went to a Plovdiv bar on way back and paid 15 levs for: 8 bottles of Tuborg, 2 cokes and 2 coffee's!!! What do you think bargain hunters!!
Agreed ste , people often compair prices with other countrys ski resorts but countrys like austria and switzerland have very expensive costs of living due to the high standards they all expect to live, Bulgarian bar/ resturant owners in places like borovets have the luxuary of very cheap prices when they buy and being able to hike the price when they sell , for example 8lev for a chockie brandy , prob cost the bar owner 1/4 or 1/2 lev to prepare, big profit margin there, somebody getting ...

Hey all, what I read shocked me. I hate it and it will be the same, if anyone told the guys oh is it cheap. Kel I can tell you Samokov is not a cheap bulgarian town, but much cheaper as Borovez.
I prefered anytime the old centre of Borovez and I posted it so often, try the Tschutschuliga, or have a look for any other smaller outside restaurant. The beer you can get in the supermarket and you see how cheap is it there. 40 to 60 st.
And the price for the taps are the same so tap of ...

And the price for the taps are the same so tap of Kamentiza is around 60 to 70 lev, filled with 50 l .
So may be it will change then we change our behaviour. May be it is worth to take a taxi for eating out in Samokov, great is the Old House Restaurant, Starata Kaschta. Was there last year and the most expensive bottle of wine was 15 lev and it was hq bg wine.
So try out, and stop paying these prices and they will change it.
