having just spent the last week in borovets i dont know what every one (sorry the small minded few) are moaning about. i went with a party of six 3 beginners 3 fairly good. we all loved it!!! rep was nice instructers very good snow could have been better but it was fine, drinks were cheep, the food had bad press before i went but that was good too, (go to francos pitza, v good pluss a good atmosphere) granted a lot of fake stuff but fill your boots its mostly good stuff. there were some ...

so if your going dont worry its all good, go with the right frame of mind expect some things to be diffrent (thay have only just stoped being communist, i think they are doing well)
so go to bulgaria wear your 1980's gear and drop the pretenece!!

I think this is one of the most honest and accurate responses on this site. The note about dropping the pretence is the main thing. Unlike France and Austria where people comment upon what people are wearing and last years colours etc you don't get that in Bulgaria....... you just get the chance to ski and I think get good value for money.re: ive just got back (brilliant holliday well done borovets and bulgaria!

Spent Christmas in Borovets withe wife and three kids. Our first time skiing. I agree with all you say had an excellent time and thoroughly enjoyed everything. Bulgarians were so friendly. You are quite right moaners seem to object to place being different from home - if home's that great then just stay there. First time skiing for me. Borovets was sensational. I started in the begginers class and ended up in the advanced. Very scary comming down some of those hills though....for a begginer.re: ive just got back (brilliant holliday well done borovets and bulgaria!
read you comments, good to hear someone who's got their head screwed on, we go to borovets on the 17th of jan and are going to enjoy ourselves, no illusions, going for a good laugh with out the pretence.pete and graeme
