hi there
just got back from bansko after having a brilliant time skiing, noticed from the questions on the board today about snow etc, when we were out there last week it started off with really good skiing conditions and great weather, but on our last day on friday you could tell the snow was slowly going, very noticebale in blue run 1 back to the ski station/kepinski hotel, could see the mud starting to come through
pleasent flight out there from gatwick, long transfer to the resort, but well worth it when you get there. we gopt up early to miss the queues for getting our ski equipment would definately recommend you book before you get out there, we were told by bakan we could get the beginner package out there, but when we asked the balkan holidays staff, they said we couldnt, so booked it all seperatly, cost a little more, but still cheap in comparison to other resorts.
lifts and slopes were farily quiet for the week, seemed to be getting quieter as the week went on, was good having the slopes pretty much to yourself,
stayed at the hotel bansko, we did allocation on arrival, but if you were booking it and choosing where you would stay i wouldnt really recommend this one as it is a bit of a walk to anything and in comparison to the other 4* hotels we went in, it wasnt up to there standards, but was clean, food was fine, very warm rooms and hot water, would reccomend the strazhite, was very nice, had some friends who stayed there
unfortunatly it was coming to the end of the season so the apres ski was fairly quiet, but made the most of it, ate out and drank out for the whole week, can't get over how cheap it is! for the whole week for 2 people having nice lunch and dinner and lots of drink spent less than 300 GBP! excellent value for money and massive food portions, tried the bars that people suggested, had a good night at amigos! the shots are great barman very entertaining, reccomend the sticky fingers shot! also went to the golden fox, excellent pizzas and cocktails.
would definately recommend bansko to anyone who wants to try skiing, already have to friends and family, as this was my first time and loved it, have now caught the skiing bug and cant wait for next year! was that taken by it, had to do the black run on the last day! it was brilliant! already counting down the days!
Hello Penelope,
I warned many times for this on the board..
always check the machine and the people around before you do something!
Now, the bank will return you everything..
I know because belgian friends had the same in Sunny Beach!!
Sorry for what happenend but I know that you'll check any cash point for now (*like I do, my friends say I'm a freak now..)
i took out cash at the cash point at the ski centre opposite the happy end bar, better go and check my account, what should i look out for? didnt really notice anyone hanging around the cash point, my boyf also used his card aswell
just check the bit where you put the card in, also does the card take along time to come out of the slot, look for small cameras or if any of the seals round the machine have been tampered with, always cover your card when typing in your number if anyone seems to be over your shoulder either dont take out any money or ask them to move to the side, this isnt just advice for abroad but anywhere in the world. A police office in a local sleepy village near me used his cash point card on xmas eve ...

A police office in a local sleepy village near me used his cash point card on xmas eve went to take money out day before new year 800 pound was missing, also look out for £249 being taken on credit card as if anyone takes more than £249 its flagged up to the company so thieve take 249 on a daily basis so as not to cause alarm, if your card is used excesivelly for amounts over 250 your bank or credit card company will put a block on it and call you. just take care and tanny says become a freak you may look a bit obsesive but better than being sorry
