Green runs terrble from tuesday onwards when 1st timers hit the slopes but other runs all ok or not as bad as I thought they were going to be by postings on here but the reports next week will be bad because of amounts of people over there
Back red which overlooks to Smolyan didn't open till Saturday but still shouldn't have opened too much snow at top and boulders showing further down Crying
There is a new short red open between the green and blue
Instuctors not too happy about this week as the class sizes are going to be too big and will give a bad impression of resort especially for 1st timers who may not not come back because of this (or is that good for us Wink Wink)
The white Hart is new building and the group that plays in there is good been told meals good there too
A good night out in Chepelare on Wednesday at Crasse & Romans hotel then on to nightclub (anyone reading this who there thanks for a good night)
All in all good time had by all in our group Hi to all in Nicky's group thanks for a good week
Steve & Mick good ending to Chicken run on DVD !!!
Don't know if back next year may have a couple of other options ie Chepelare or even to try Bansko Exclamation Exclamation but still have will miss the friendleness of people we already know if we don't go back Crying Crying
Decisions decisions

re: just back from pamps

hi
going to boro sat for first time and after reading your comments iam a little worried about spoiling someones holiday.
should i cancel or try my best book again next year and maybe during my life achieve olympic standard so as not to upset the experts, who should be able to avoid me anyway or be on more difficult runs out of first timers way.
or are you not ready for the expert runs????

read in the wrong text Exclamation
as place so busy it was "terrible" even for 1st timers with so many people on the slopes and waiting for the chairlift they were finding it difficult and as this week is supposed to be busier.......
if you are a 1st timer and haven't been to pamps to get down to the Malina ski depot there is only a green run to get you there from the middle station so it has nothing to do with being ready for the expert runs or not!
But I've never been to boro so can't make any ...

re: just back from pamps

Hi

only advice I can give you is to stick with the instructor, do not go off in the afternoon after the lessons unless you are confident you can stop or dodge anyone else if they get in your way... I saw a beginner go off on her own after the 4th day of ski school and collided with a snowboarder who had fallen and she could not avoid them because she could not stop or swerve in time, they ended up on a stretcher!!!!!

I was in Pamps in January 21st and to be honest found the queues less than last year and the runs not overcrowded at all, know its not the same place as you, like you say the experts should and do avoid the beginners but the beginners need to be sensible and not try to run before they can walk or ski before they can snow plough.... hope this helps and means you look forward to your first time - I was a beginner last year and you laugh so much on your first time, this year we did not laugh half as much, so enjoy it you will not be a beginner once the week is over

re: just back from pamps

Thanks for apology
I'm not saying they aren't I was one as well and still improving & learning the problem is as resort gets more hotels and apartments which means more people the slopes available are not increasing so it becomes hard even for beginners after seeing last week and the next 2 weeks are more busier because of half term it will be worse I'm thinking of safety for everyone regardless of stage of skiing they are at
The number of instructors in the resort has also improved

but as I said they are still not happy as the groups this week will be big some people will get board standing around alot learning and this means they are more likely to try things themselves, one group of 6 girls I and my instructor stopped by, had taken skis off as they were too frightend to come down not alot you can do with someone when it is pure fear
I love Pamps and want to go back but I am having thoughts about this

re: just back from pamps

Janet is right it was very busy last week and with everyone channelling on to the green, accidents will happen. I have never seen so many people limping in Pamps as last week. I came across a mother and daughter both in plaster from ankle to thigh. Snowboarders and skiers just do not mix and Pamps is not set for both. The infracstructure must be improved.
