I went to Canada earlier this year for two weeks and to be honest I preferred Bansko even if my son did get medevac'd of the mountain after a plonker boarder hit him full on whilst he was having lessons ( my son not the boarder). The facilites on the mountain (2yrs back) were brand new and equal to anywhere in the world as were the medical facilites on the hill, unfortunaltey the same can't be said for local hospital. It was 3rd world and made me quite humbled as they pushed my son to the front of the queue for Xrays (and quickly determined it wasn't a broken neck or vertabrae.)
Loved the place and the people - much friendlier than the Canadians and they were pretty nice - can't wait to go back on the 20th...
just take care on the hill & watch out for the boarders as you may see them but (boarder have restricted pheripheral vision due to the way they stand on the bindings) and they may not see you till it's too late!!
I know exactly what you mean, skiing the likes of Canada is great, but for charm there is no substitute for the likes of Bulgarian resorts.
Kids are looking forward to returning to Bulgaria rather than a couple of weeks in Canada! (ill be skint all year mind you!)
