Have been to pamps 5 times and going out again same week as your son. My 10 yr old has only ever worn a footie kit under his ski suit and I just wear a t-shirt ....... wouldn't say either of us are particularly hardy. We also rarely wear hats but do wear bands that cover our ears and a scarf if its really cold. Hope that helps
Given the temperatures at the moment I'd be skiing in my merino thermal top with just a soft shell fleece jacket over it and just my soft shell trousers on the bottom.
Kids can run a bit cooler than big people but we had similar fairly mild conditions last year and my 3 girls were happy in just regular t shirts with their ski jackets or soft shell on the the warmer days over, no mid layer and said they were too hot with their thermals as base layer most of the time.
Don't think any of us ...

Don't think any of us would have gone for full on 3 layers until it was well into minus teens temperature wise. Though that said if he is a total beginner there will be a fair bit of standing around and less activity than for the better skiers so he may need to rap up a bit warmer
He hates wrapping up warm and rarely wears a jacket in the UK. I told him to put a micro fleece in his backpack just in case he is cold on the slope. I guess he will know after the first day what to put on the next tho ! .
Ive been watching the weather forecast and been surprised by how high they are.
Hey, Just got back from Borovets a few weeks ago and all me and my mate wore during the day was a pair of thermal trousers and a thermal long sleeved top under our ski jacket and trousers and we were nice and toasty, even as beginners we weren't standing around much so didn't really feel the cold!
Nothing worse than kids being cold - they can always remove layers if too warm. First thing in the morning it can be chilly so if they are warm enough then, should generally be ok for the day.
My kids always wear a vest, thin thermal top and then a thin micro fleece then jacket on top. They do ski hard so stay warm. The only problems we have ever had with the cold was when it was -25 (in Pamps) and my husband and son were really was struggling with their hands.

At the moment it is warm in Pamps but things can change quite quickly. My kids all carry those tube things 'heady' I think they are called - that can be warn as a scarf/hat/ face mask etc - they fold up really small and are great if it does suddenly go cold. They can cover the nose and mouth and can make a huge difference if the mist descends and you have a cold afternoon.
Gloves also need to be the right size. If they are too small and it gets cold, they can be incredibly painful. I don't think you'll have these issues in Feb in Pamps but always best to be prepared.
I have been on a few ski holiday where the weather has been like it is in Pamps at the moment - where I have worn just a bikini top under my ski jacket - and have stripped off at the restaurant at lunch time!
