re: lessons start time

Most resorts are 10am - 12 then 1pm - 3pm . Bear in mind that nearly everyone wants to get up forthat time so the lift can be very busy - best to get up there early .

re: lessons start time

around 8 in the morning open and usually close around 5ish but can depend on time of season as it gets dark earlier at the begining of the season.

Last year we usually met up just before 9am to collect skis at the depot. Whilst the lessons were for 4 hours officially, by the time you get kit, go up gondala, ski, have lunch, ski some more, back down, hand in kit it was usually getting on for 5pm and time to collapse exhausted into the nearest bar (Titanic seemed favorite with our group). Our instructor last year (Emil aka Emo) was great on and off the slopes and usually organised an evening get together for anyone in the group who was interested. I think the instructors get a free meal if they take people to a resturant but if it's good (and it usually was) I had no prob with that.
I'm in the Iglika at Borovets from 12th Jan so maybe see you there! Off to Xscape today to see if I can still do it.

The restaurant may or may not give the ski instructor a tip for bringing a party, but the normal form would be to ensure that if your instructor takes you out, you cover his costs - he's not there because he's your friend, its his job. You should also tip him (her) if you've had a good experience with the training. Brits are extremely bad at this generally.
