Now thats a cold resortn brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr i was in ruka jan 2005 and the temps went from -19 to -32 all week thats without windchill ( do not know the formula to work out windchill).Shame really as its not a bad place to go and its pretty snow sure infact there are open now.

cold yes!!!!but great. once you are moving you dont feel the cold. thermals a definate to take. no queues laid back. grat excursions too.

Mr P, i was in Ruka in Jan 05 how random!! we stayed in a log cabin it was soooo beautiful there wasn't it it was so cold there you could feel your eyelashes freeze!

Thinking of trying Lapland next season - Yllas looks lovely. The webcam looks great too, shame a couple of weeks ago they had to move the FSI world cup event from Lapland due to lack of snow.

Looks like all of europe is going to have a great snow season this time.

yllas is quieter than levi. nightlife isnt much compared but depends on what you want. there aren't many shops either just a couple from memory. but the scenery was fantastic and good for cross country skiing.

hahaha yes the cold was that bad you could only manage 1 run and then have to warm up.I have pics of me with my eyelashes frozen up.........its just impossible to warm up enough to ski/snowboard in no matter how many layers you put on.

I stayed away from ruka,we were in the holiday club kussamo (sp)

what did you make of the board park?

I have been looking at it again as a possible resort if the snow doesn`t come.
