Hi Bob, Don't think you'd want to carry your ski stuff back to the Lion as its a 15-20 minute walk up/down a horse poop strewn hill to the Gondola. Thinking about it, they have run a mini bus from hotel to drop off at Gondola but thought this was people only not equipment. I quite like the walk from the old town as it gets your muscles stretched out before you start but not sure I'd do it with ski's. Better off arranging ski storage in the Samokov or at the Gondola, but it's probably ...

Better off arranging ski storage in the Samokov or at the Gondola, but it's probably already included with Nielson as part of your package if you have hired equipment through them as with all the agents.
Good luck.

hi caz
thanks for that. i know the walk you mean, i stayed in the zodiac about 5 years ago which is further still than the lion and i did the walk at the start and end of every day, i was in snowboard boots rather than ski boots though. ill look for storage in the village then.

Hi. They do have a storage but it's simply to keep them rather than a proper rental depot. You can take your skis back on the transfer shuttle (place on back) if you want to which is probably best for those who have their own gear. Otherwise I agree with Caz that you're best off leaving them at the depot they are rented from which with neilson is prob Rila or samokov hotel

Minibus runs every 20 minutes or so each way, and you can take your ski's/boards on there, no problem.

Storage room is near the hotel entrance, used it last year, no problem, although we did take our boots up to our room to dry off better.

As for leaving any rental gear at the depot, depends on which depot and if you're meeting up with a group. Nothing worse than schlepping all the way up to the Rila to collect your skis to walk all the way back down to meet your group at the ...
