very long queues at bansko today, 2 hours for the gondola, then 20 minutes at the other lifts, the top was shut, i have no idea why. the annoying thing is the pistes were perfect, just too busy
Better today, after about 10.30am, which fortunately coincided with the police shutting the mountain road, allowing our guests who were in our bus to at least get up on the gondola...
Three days of hell on the mountain road trying to get guests up to ski avoiding the massive half term queues, the top of the mountain was open today, and was glorious...

Just to add, first day (Monday), really heavy snow, broke two snowchains, gave up trying to get up an unploughed road, second day, stuck on mountain for one and a half hours because Ulen attempted to get an artic truck up the mountain road, and guess what ?, it got stuck Third day, police closed the mountain road ??? likely because they had a call from Ulen.. god forbid that someone might make a few bob ferrying skiers/boarders up the mountain to avoid the queues, given a clue by the police when i asked why the road was closed, `take gondola' was the reply...
Daily strugle in Bansko BG
Ulen is the boss in Pirin Mountain and you have to pay them good chunk of your side trips money I guess.
In every ski Resort just trying to make some quick cash is looked with suspicion.
There are registered taxi companies which pay the municipality, the local company running the-already-made-facilities and pay heavy licence prices for that ao I don't see problem with Ulens behaviour.
It is going to be a little nightmare for the WC this long weekend no doubt ...

It is going to be a little nightmare for the WC this long weekend no doubt.but there are not many resorts which want to take world cup competition in the Europe busiest week for ski business just to indulge in some promotion and ignore the business sence.
All of the resort when it comes to Half Term Feb are notoriously quite and don't offer services for massive competition which will come and quicly go the day it finishes leaving no visible trace.
My opinion of course.
Brilliant snow but just for the few this weekend.the rest can cramp in tight on the rest of available runs.
2 hours wait for the gondola in Bansko is somehow not a lot knowing the solid 3-4hrs you can indulge is endless standing with your ski boots skis and poles and moving few cantimeters at the time.
Course for great concern if you are one of many in Bansko right now.
At least you will do some kind of skiing in there I hope.
Enjoy the snow while it lasts.
