HIi pete,
is the expansion for pamps already under way or is it to start soon, its been on the cards for a while now, hope they do start it soon it will be great for pamps.
Also did you ski chepelare or was there not enough snow cover, im heading back there on the 3rd of march after a dissapionting new year there thanks in advance.
The extention to Pamporovo has yet to get underway, although there have been a couple of new runs added over the past 2 years. Some building work is underway but this is more accomodation than slope and lift development.
Chepalare remains closed as it has been all season due to the lack of snow.
Yes it will happen chris - I know it has been hear-say for years but the contracts are now signed and work should be underway soon. Much of the development will be on private land and will include a link with Chepelare and Smoylan. Locals are very much behind the project as it will bring much needed revenue to the villages.
Lets hope it's all done with due care and protection of the natural beauty that surrounds the resort.
thats great news pete, my wifes dad (bulgarian) has also heard the same news but unsure when its gonna start, hes also currently building a b&b for us in one of the surrounding villages called progled just 4 km from the resort, and its an option for us to move there in the later years, and with the expansion of the roads to greece is also good news.
we also had a similar experience with the lifs in bansko in dec, the conditions were perfect at the very top with a foot of powder to the left ...

we also had a similar experience with the lifs in bansko in dec, the conditions were perfect at the very top with a foot of powder to the left of the two reds but they wouldn't open the lifts untill the weekend so the people there at the begining of the week had to strugle while there were great conditions to be skied at top, glad i was only there for a couple days really.
p.s you dont know the height of the perlik peak by any chance???
thanks again chris(swansea jack)
