hi snowflake,

just thought i would cut in and offer the following. Here are some tips and advice which all should follow. (whether you think were in global warming or just bad luck)
1) when trawling through brochures u now need to make more note than ever reagrding the height of the resort. The lower you go, normally the more risk
2) be prepared to accept that 'pain in the backside 3-4 hour transfer. no pain no gain

3) check out places like iglu gor historical snow reporting,i went away late jan this year(low season) and the snow nver got any better for the rest of the season. i still got however all 6 days skiing and even some knee deep off piste (NOT IN BG i might add)
4) book with someone who will allow you change destination at the last minute... ie...airtours / panorama only charge £20 to change to any other resort providing you fly out same day, where as crystalski will charge you 85% cancellation fee READ SMALL PRINT, talk to them when booking, you may save when booking on line but heh ring them first

hope this all helps, it is common sense but we all have made mistakes we could have avoided

Using this year as an example is not fair on any resort accross the whole of Europe as it has just been 'one of those years.'

Normally I go to Bulgaria last week of Jan and first week of Feb and until this year we have always had brilliant snow in Pamporovo, and this year has in no way put me off from making the same decision in the future.

Weather is unpredictable all over the World, and it's impossible to predict what 2008 will be like, but Bulgaria has an excellent snow record for January for over 80 years. It just didn't happen this year, and that's got nothing to do with global warming as that takes 100's of years to make any significant difference.
