Hi All. Has anyone got any advice about using mobile phones in bulgaria? i've heard that roming phones can be super-expensive... wondering about communicating using text messages or buying a local sim card?

Buy a local sim card! we found ours in the shop in the Samokov. We bought 1 each for 20 lev each and it comes with 15 lev credit - bargain. we sent nearly 10 texts each to uk every day and there was still a bit of credit (about 2 levs) left, We got back on the 28th jan and just had to book for 11 March to use our remaining credit. Waste not want not lol Exclamation Exclamation Exclamation Booze

re: mobile phone solutions

Or buy some walkie talkies as you can get a decent pair for under £50 and they last for years!

Walkie talkies the way to go. If I hear a bloody mobile phone ringing on the slope, the recipient will have a snowball in the head!

Leave it at home or for emergencies only. Some people like the solitude and silence of skiing not crazy bloody frogs!
