mobile phones

Hi we are a family of 6 first time skiers off to pamps on 10th Feb. Just wondered if mobile phones work ok out in pamps and txt. Would like to allow the kids to have some freedom but would feel happier if I could call or txt on their mobiles. We are all getting very excited can't wait. Staying in the Finlandia. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

re: mobile phones

was there 10 years ago and worked fine then.......so should be no probs! might be cheaper to invest in a few two way radios - no call charges and you can get reasonably priced ones that work over several km

I needed to stay in touch with my snowboarding teenage boys because they were always well away from me!

I got our phones unlocked before we left - paid between £5 and £10 each, but have since found out you can do it online at no cost, you just need a code which apparently you can find on these websites.

In Alaska supermarket in Pamporovo I bought a Bulgarian sim card pack with 2 cards for less than 20 lev, also bought a single sim card which cost more though I didn't realise that at the time! You ask for them at the till. Each card came with about 5 minutes of call time and I bought a few more 5 lev cards which we loaded on.

We found them invaluable for keeping in touch, and it was the cheapest way to do it. Be aware that they take several hours to start working, get connected to the network or whatever - ours did not work until the next morning after we put them in.

Have a great time!
