does anyone here have any feed back on buying second hand skis or boots, i can get them for a good price on e bay and i recon that i could get 2or3 weeks out of them,
does anyone else do this, advice would be great,
thanks,
I bought some really good ones from ebay last year - they cost me £50 plus postage, but would have been over £200 new. Hired skis in resort though - not worth hassle of carrying them! Boots had only been worn for 7 days and were in great condition. I'd tried hire boots and found them uncomfy (and VERY well used). Boots still in excellent condition - and ready for forthcoming trip. My hubby's got some this year (ebay again) and they seem equally as good.
thankyou very much, i was thinking more about the boots, once they are cumfy and im used to them then i would be able to enjoy the skiing more,
Thanks again
I bought my first set of skis/boots ex-rental from a hire shop. They'd only been used for two weeks and cost £140 all together. It was good to get them from the shop as they'd been serviced, i knew they fit and with advice from the shop assistant knew that they were the right lenght etc for my height, weight and level...
So really depends on if you want to try before you buy...
You're right there - remember, you will be spending most of your time wearing them, so it's worth making sure your feet are comfy and warm. I'd recommend buying your own - use ebay, you can always relist them if they're not suitable
You should never buy second hand boots of e-bay. No self respecting half decent skier would do that. They will not be the correct fit even if you fool yourself into thinking that they are. Bad move.
The hire shop thing the stig has done is a good option.
get them off ebay if they do not fit correctly then take them to somewhere that will put you foot beds in for £40, you would possibly need footbeds with new boots anyway, ebay have some great second hand boots, snow and rock told me to sell mine on there after only 4 weeks of sking in them, they are perfect cond.
Best way would be to get the fit from a shop then look on ebay for the same pair.
